Shared success… we were lucky to be candidates to this program. The upfront cost is $15,000.00. That amount does not include the 3 to 5 thousand for medications. For this, we get one fresh cycle and one frozen cycle (if there are any embryos remaining). This is the program we are doing and the clinic we are using:

We’ve worked really hard to save money to pay for this program. We quickly realized we couldn’t do this all on our own. The credit company’s that typically offer financing plans to clinics such as ours had pulled out because of the state of the economy. Getting a loan for IVF from the bank seemed unlikely for the same reason. At this point, I’m taking a second job for the summer. We’ve advertised for a roommate. We stopped our gym membership, the newspaper, and made other cuts in our lives to save, save, and save some more. We figured out exactly how much we could put on each of our credit cards. We knew we were close, but ransacking every bit of our savings seemed economically irresponsible in the climate of today. We wanted to be able to do this IVF program, but still be able to get by if one of us lost our jobs. We wanted to be able to do this IVF program, but still be able to be financially responsible for the life we create once this baby is here.
We have been blessed with amazingly generous families. There is nothing in our lives that we need or want more than to have a child. We were able to let our families know that instead of clothes or knick knacks or gift cards… we would rather them help us with huge financial burden. For our birthdays this year, for our anniversary, our parents and some other family members have been extraordinarily generous in helping us bolster up our IVF fund. We are beyond lucky to have their support and love. There is no doubt that this child, when he or she arrives, will be surrounded by extraordinarily warm and caring love.
